Rasheeda has established herself to be one of the many impressive hip hop and R&B artists in the music industry. Known as the Queen of Crunk, she has helped D-Lo Records to gain popularity and even become a partner for Motown Records. Aside from earning success too as an independent artist, she recently discussed her plans of changing record labels.

An exclusive interview on her thoughts about her future career was given to Sha’Linda Jeanine as published in Hip Hop DX.

DX: What is that like for you being able to wear the hat of “Queen of Crunk?”

Rasheeda: It’s a good thing and I embrace that. I love to party and have fun and try to make music that you can just pop in the car and ride out to with your girls. That’s one of the reason why I love Hip Hop so much because of the effect that the music has on its listeners. Hip Hop as a story – and as music in general makes your build memories that will last a lifetime. When people come to you about records that you’ve done and let you know that they some how related or it touched their lives directly, its an amazing experience. I love making my type of music that the ladies can dance and pop their booty to. [Laughs]

DX: You just premiered your “Marry Me” video tell me about the concept and treatment.

Rasheeda: The concept was like a female Hangover scenario. It’s based on the last night you’re out hanging with your girls before you go get ready to get married, but I didn’t want to portray a wedding because that’s just so cliché. I just wanted the video to be fun with the girls out drinking and having fun and doing the crazy things that would happen prior to getting married. The video came out and I’m somewhat satisfied with it, I just wanted people to be able to watch the video and get a good laugh. Original story here.

Rasheeda insisted too during the interview of her loving the fact that she is an independent artist. She further explained that she’s not the type of female rapper who keeps comparing herself with others.

Hence, the plans of getting back to changing record labels to the original one she was with in the past were raised. There is definitely so much to watch out for Rasheeda.

American rapper Mac Miller does it again by releasing his sixth official Best Day Ever mixtape last year. It gathered more than 20,000 viewers to celebrate and join the live stream forums done before the tape was even launched. It is made up of 16 songs supported by nine producers with most coming from the ID Labs.

This mixtape is considered as follow up to the rapper’s previous mixtape that similarly was highly acclaimed entitled K.I.D.S. or Kickin’ Incredibly Dope Shit. Videos have also been made for the four songs included in the latest mixtape album.

The release details of Mac Miller’s Best Day Ever mixtape were featured over at Wikipedia where it was also discussed how well it was received by the fans.

The mixtape only features two other artists besides Mac Miller himself: Phonte on the chorus of the song dedicated to Mac Miller’s mother “I’ll Be There” and label mate Wiz Khalifa on the chorus of the marijuana themed song “Keep Floatin”.

It received favorable reviews, including an ‘XL’ (second highest) from XXL Magazine.[7]

The first single “Donald Trump” charted on the Billboard Hot 100 debuting at #80.

Since the release, it has been downloaded over 460,000 times and streamed over 740,000 times from the official host of the mixtape, DatPiff.com. Custom made copies can be found online.[8]

The video for the first single released from this mixtape, “Donald Trump”, has reached 58 million views in the popular video sharing website YouTube,[3] and Donald Trump himself, who is referenced on the song, acknowledged the video on the social networking site Twitter when it reached 16 million views stating “Who wouldn’t be flattered?”. Mixtapes were made in the past by music enthusiasts who wanted to have what we now call a compilation album. The new mixtapes of this generation seem easier to produce, yet it takes a savvy music enthusiast to create a compilation that truly works. Artists who wish to leverage available technology go beyond compiling music; they add at least one video into their compilation. The video is meant to send visual images to match the compiled music, as if one is not at its best without the other.

Videos are essential to music because it amplifies the latter to make it more compelling. This is the reason why music videos are much anticipated with a new track’s release.
